About the WVIU Music Awards (WMA’s)

The WVIU Music Awards (WMA’s) is one of the nation’s premier celebrations honoring Independent Christian and Gospel music excellence. Held annually each November, the WMA’s provides a powerful platform to acknowledge and celebrate the artists, creatives, leaders, ministers, producers, songwriters, and influencers who have demonstrated exceptional faith, dedication, and achievement throughout the year.

The WMA’s exists to uplift those whose work glorifies God and advances the Kingdom, both on and off the stage.

    A Celebration of Independent Excellence

Each year, the WVIU Music Awards proudly highlights WVIU Web Radio artists alongside other Independent, New, and Emerging Christian/Gospel artists from across the country and beyond. Our ceremony is known for creating space where independent voices are not only heard, but honored.

The awards ceremony is often hosted by respected independent artists and, at times, well-known figures within Christian and Gospel music, creating an atmosphere that is both professional and deeply community-centered.

    Empowering Independent Artists

At the heart of the WMA’s is a deep commitment to supporting independent artists. We understand the unique challenges faced by artists navigating the music industry without major-label backing. The WMA’s was created to serve as a voice, encouragement, and recognition platform for independent Christian artists who are faithfully pursuing their calling. Nominees have the opportunity to be recognized, and even win awards, within categories that best reflect their music, ministry, and professional journey.

WVIU Radio remains honored to serve as a stepping stone for independent artists, while keeping Christ at the center of everything we do.

    Event Setting & Award Presentation

The WVIU Music Awards is a family-friendly, faith-centered event, traditionally held during the FOFMI World Convention and Interfaith University Graduation Ceremony, typically taking place during the second week of November. Exact dates, times, and locations are communicated annually via official WVIU correspondence. Awards are presented LIVE to nominees who have been selected within their respective categories, celebrating both artistic excellence and spiritual impact.

  • The WVIU Music Awards is more than an awards ceremony, it is a celebration of faith, perseverance, creativity, and obedience to the call of God. You truly do not want to miss this year’s event.

  • Nomination Acceptance Policy

All nominees are required to officially accept their nomination by the stated deadline using the confirmation methods provided via WVIU email communications.

Failure to accept a nomination properly and within the designated timeframe will result in automatic disqualification from award consideration. We cannot present an honor that has not been acknowledged or accepted.

Additionally, all final decisions are subject to adjustment at the discretion of the WVIU leadership team. The WVIU Music Awards operates with prayerful discernment and remains Spirit-led, allowing room for God’s direction at all times. As such, details may shift as we prioritize honoring God above all else.
